AFTERGLOW
A Time Capsule Memory Box Brand
Project Background:
This project focused on creating a full brand identity for a hypothetical business, starting with research and brand strategy and carrying through to visual design. I explored the brand’s values and audience, then translated those ideas into a cohesive visual system including a logo, typography, color palette, and supporting assets.
Research & Direction:
Afterglow was created as a time-capsule memory box meant to hold meaningful keepsakes from different moments, trips, or phases of life. The idea was inspired by my own habit of saving small, sentimental items in a shoebox in my closet. Whenever I came across it, I felt a sense of joy and nostalgia while revisiting those memories. That experience led to the concept of Afterglow. The name comes from the word afterglow, meaning “a pleasant feeling that lingers after an experience,” which perfectly reflects the purpose of the brand and how I wanted it to feel visually and emotionally.
Results:
The final brand identity reflects this sense of nostalgia through a firefly-inspired logo mark, symbolizing light, memory, and fleeting moments. The concept draws from the childhood experience of catching fireflies, holding them briefly, and then letting them go; mirroring how memories are preserved and revisited through Afterglow. A soft, cool color palette was chosen to evoke calm and reflection, while subtle warm accents add a gentle glow, echoing the warmth felt when rediscovering a meaningful memory.
